The Lord's Faithfulness

The Lord’s Faithfulness: Lake Charles, LA

The second week in October we had the opportunity to do ministry in Louisiana! It was a holy experience and we got to see God move in mighty ways. Each day I wrote down ways God moved so I wouldn’t forget. I thought I would share them here with you so you could be spurred on to action and encouraged in your daily life to recognize where God is moving. These are straight from my journal so I apologize for the candid writing of it all.

Monday 10/12: The whole ceiling fell down in one piece, but Delaney called my name and moved me out of the way with just enough time. Speaking to Nelson our homeowner and seeing his excitement at the work that was happening in his house. He couldn’t believe it was all free! He felt radical love.

Tuesday 10/13: Hailey and I worked on a different house and the homeowner was a horder so there was nowhere to put her stuff. We still got the ceiling down, but it took so much more time. Father cleanse the houses of our hearts so you can take down the walls – our possessions are roadblocks! We went back to Nelson’s after finishing and Jewel and I were cleaning up the neighbor’s yard. The people inside weren’t believers AND they only spoke Spanish. I got to have a conversation with them in their native tongue and pray over Maria and her son who was still back home in Mexico. I pray she comes to know Christ on her own. What a way to humble myself for the sake of someone else feeling seen.

Wednesday 10/14: BETTY’S house! WOW! I couldn’t have had a better day. I was exhausted and prayed for the Lord to bring me through and then I spent the whole morning talking to Betty! She commanded a room and when she spoke, everyone listened. She poured into me so much through the faithfulness she exemplified. This was a stellar day. She mentioned having her retinas torn and boy could I think of how much the Lord loves to heal sight. AND HE DID – Jewel, Cassi and I felt prompted to pray over her eyes and the Lord took the squiggly lines from her vision so that she could get back to reading the scriptures and sewing – things she hadn’t been able to do for months because of her impaired vision. BIG WOW. She looked so in awe. She kept glancing up to where she formerly had the lines in her vision in wonder – ‘how could this be.’ Casual healings on a Wednesday morning – won’t he do it.

Thursday 10/15: We spent all day at a veteran’s house. He told us stories of his days in the military and gushed over his late wife. It was a simple and sweet moment.

Friday 10/16: When your walls come down, what type of insulation is beneath? Cockroaches? Is your heart clear enough for God to move in and begin tearing down the walls. Or is it cluttered with stuff? Surrender. Never rush anyone – we lose sight of what God is doing. Sight – he loves to restore sight when our eyes are on him. Tearing down is messy, but it would make them sick to stay in their moldy house. In the crushing, in the pressing, he is making new wine.

I am including some photos here at the bottom of our time in Lake Charles

I will be posting another list of the Lords faithfulness from our time in De Ridder next week!

Be praying for Louisiana as there is still much restoration to be had. If you feel led to be a part of the reconstruction, Samaritans purse is always looking for volunteers and it is free to partner with them.

With love,

ellie
